GLOBAL CRISIS… AFFECTS MY GENERATION

Dearest ButterflyMoms,

Before we start, a moment directly from me… “I’m totally blown away that we got almost 1,000 hits on the ButterflyMoms blog this past week alone! At last count, ButterflyMoms from over 35 countries read it! AMAZING! HUMBLING! GRATEFUL! Please continue sharing https://butterflymoms.wordpress.com!”  Now onto the ButterflyMoms blog…

Economic abundance, or lack thereof, is on a lot of people’s minds. Here in Portugal, the word “crise” (pronounced kree-z), meaning the crisis is heard on every news report and read in every newspaper. Times like these set a perception in motion and INCREASE THE FEAR. In this case it is global. I picked up a Canadian magazine and it was talking about how college graduates have mega-debt and no high paying jobs to dig out of their debt. You turn on the news and it is fighting, disharmony, discord.

For the last few decades, we human beings, from a global point of view have gotten, dare I say, I wee bit spoiled. Never before have we had the extravagance of food, shelter, amenities and transportation as we do now. Even someone like Louis XIV or Henry VIII could did not have access to the incredible amount of options we have. For example, if we wanted to eat a lobster or fly to Paris or have hot water on demand, most of us can do this if they needed to. Those old wealthy rulers simply could not because the technology and abundance were not there for them.

For someone born in 1910 by the time they were in their 20’s, they had experienced the Great Depression. In their 30’s, they experienced World War II. They called this group of people THE GREAT GENERATION for how they dealt with the deep adversity. Our global generation has experienced abundance, growth, peace and prosperity… for the most part. We have been able to compartmentalize war, suffering and poverty so that it is hidden. My daughter Mialotta is 8 and a half years old and even before she was CONCEIVED the United States of American has been at war with Iraq. (It is weird even for me to write this because it seems like it can’t be true but it is true.) We have just disconnected from it. As a mother, it bothers me that in my beautiful daughter’s lifetime we have been at war, and not even really “felt it”.

The GREAT GENERATION had their moment and now it is ours. The price the planet and we have paid for living so mindlessly is catching up to us. We are at the precipice of a huge spiritual and cultural shift. Corporations are failing. This can cause panic in some but only to those who cannot see that life is about shift and every generation has had their shift. Those who thrive are those who are able to step back and see the big picture.

You cannot feel LOVE and FEAR at the same time. So if you are feeling scared about your money situation, take a step back. Take in several deep breaths. One… breathe.  Two… breathe. Three… breathe. AHHHHHHH! Now get out pen and paper and a warm glass of water (believe me it works wonders – just warm water) and ask whatever you need to ask. “How is what I’m experiencing the best lesson for me at this moment in time?” “What am I thankful for right now?” “What are the gifts in front of me that I have not seen?” “What things/habits/people am I ready to release in my life?”

What we have been doing on our planet is something that cannot be sustained. This economic global crisis will probably get a lot “worse” but there is so many wonderful gifts and shifts that are coming from it. Make sure you are getting rid of what does not work in your life and are doing more of what you love! Even just one person doing this SHIFTS it for everyone. Bring more good feelings to our planet by bringing out the real you… more aligned with your life’s joy! If you don’t know what that is have fun letting it find you! Enjoy your journey!

Now if you are feeling stuck or need help leave a comment below and I will coach you through it. If you have that question chances are that a lot of other people do too!

Great big hugs from beautiful Portugal,
Mariaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

WHAT IS BUTTERFLYMOMS?
ButterflyMoms is a community of people who realize they are souls first and human being second. They want to explore more about themselves, to find out what makes them happy and how they can lead a life of purpose. It is simply about FEEDING YOUR SOUL. Although it has the name “MOMS” in the title it is more about being nurturing to your own transformation, as the butterfly is to its own metamorphosis. This community is led by Maria Salomão-Schmidt whose transformation was ignited by the birth and death of her BELOVED thirteen month old daughter Sophia (Sophalicious), the original butterfly.

*Every Friday Morning, as a way of honoring her daughter Sophia’s soul, Maria writes the weekly BUTTERFLYMOMS BLOG. Hundreds of people read it every week to feed their souls. Maria started writing the blog in May 2009 and has written EVERY Friday since. Tell your friends… https://butterflymoms.wordpress.comand spread the love!!! FEED YOUR SOUL!!!!!
